NATIONAL CITY COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION - UNION TOWER APARTMENTS
Built in 1968 with funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the existing apartment community National City Park Apartments houses approximately 700 adults and 1,000 children in 456 units. It is located on 22.6 acres adjacent to D Avenue in National City. The primary goal of the redevelopment is to advance the Family Housing Corporation’s mission of providing affordable housing and services to its current and future low to moderate income residents, including families and veterans. To achieve this goal we will offer a variety of housing types to support the diverse needs to the community.
Phase 1 implementation is the Union Tower family apartments providing 94 units of affordable housing within a high performance building and systems envelope. The project is pursuing the EPIC Challenge which would provide grants for highly sustainable infrastruature including photovolataic panels, on-site power generation, and extensive stormwater capture and re-use systems.
